With the wave of inclusion catching on, making the schools open their doors to children with special education needs, the need for support staff has gone up exponentially. Many schools require shadow teachers who support children with special needs in a regular classroom. This enhances the concept of inclusion and the special child gets focused attention in a classroom, making learning easier.

The existing “shadow teachers” are untrained or undertrained individuals who may have had some experience in teaching but lack the formal training as qualified special educators. The hindrances to formal training could be many – time, availability, finances, lost opportunity, eligibility, medium of instruction, having a learning difficulty to name a few. This lack of formal training has direct implications on not only finding a desired job but also in the remuneration.

Keeping in mind the changing scenario of the Indian education system, Orkids has taken the initiative to empower those young adults who might not be able to consider formal teacher training programs. This certificate course will train the young adults sufficiently to be able to take up a job as a shadow teacher in any school and become constructive citizens of our society.
